It is with honor and excitement that I introduce myself as the principal of Ridgecrest Elementary and Center for Gifted Studies. Placing a greater emphasis on service learning projects aligned to the curriculum will continue to be emphasized as a major character-based initiative this school year. Teaching students to practice our school’s core values, such as respect, responsibility, self-motivation, perseverance, teamwork, kindness and community, will continue to be a key emphasis of our visible and award-winning character education program. We also plan to offer students opportunities to participate in numerous other clubs ranging from Chess, Debate, Leadership, Girlfriends, Spanish, SAVE and the National Honor Society. STEM activities will be integrated in math and science classes and students are welcome to join one of our many STEM-oriented clubs. A major initiative at Ridgecrest is to promote STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) learning experiences. Our Student Enrichment Model (SEM) continues to grow and flourish, providing students with opportunities to explore their interests. Amy just graduated from elementary school and she will soon be going to middle school & attending the Performing Arts magnet program Amy loves singing & dancing, and playing the ukulele & violin. Her favorite past role was Young Nala in Lion King, Jr. We are proud of and continue to expand the enrichment opportunities at Ridgecrest both inside the classroom and through a multitude of diverse opportunities before, during and after school. Amy has been performing in musicals since she was 5 years old. Ridgecrest Elementary, located in the east central portion of the Shoreline School District, has an enrollment of approximately 450 students in grades K-5.
